No better opportunity: working with the Middle East  This year, DSEI will see a particular increase in attendance from the Middle East, with a UAE pavilion. Included in the pavilion is Tawazun; Tawazun is a major strategic investment company based in Abu Dhabi, which focuses on long-term development through investing in primarily defence specific manufacturing and technology projects. This dedicated UAE pavilion will provide visitors with easier access to companies from the region, as they will be based together on the exhibition floor, and showcase all of the best innovations in one place. Another company exhibiting within the pavilion will be NIMR, a UAE manufacturer of light and medium weight wheeled military vehicles. With each edition of DSEI, a wider range of exhibitors is sought to continually expand the breadth and variety of companies and products. This armoured vehicle company, which has only been running for six years, has already supplied vehicles around MENA. Armoured vehicles are a key feature of DSEI’s static displays, continue to be a major asset to armies across the world and relevant across so much of the global industry. DSEI 2017 will also host a pavilion from Jordan, run by the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB), the defence company which oversees all defence and security equipment and services within Jordan. This connection with the Middle East defence industry will only become stronger throughout 2017; new partnerships are expected to form at Abu Dhabi’s IDEX (International Defence Exhibition and Conference) this month, and with BIDEC (Bahrain International Defence Exhibition and Conference) just weeks after DSEI on 16-18 October, there is no better opportunity to aid in reinforcing business relations and witnessing the latest innovations and products from the region. 16 MIDDLE EASTERN ENGAGEMENT
